Smart Education is currently recruiting for a Science Teacher (SEN) to work in Warwickshire.
Job Requirements for this Science Teacher (SEN) role in Birmingham:• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in Science or Special Education• Minimum of 2 years' experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)• Experience developing and supporting children in line with academic and pastoral targets• Strong understanding of behaviour management techniques, with a focus on resolution and developmental reflection• Ability to build trusting relationships and provide security to vulnerable learners• Experience working outside conventional classrooms and incorporating outdoor learning• A practical understanding of Keeping Children Safe in Education legislation• Effective communication skills and resilience in high-pressure situations
Preferred Qualifications:• Team Teach or relevant de-escalation training• First Aid certification• Autism Level 1 & 2 training (preferred)
Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):• Plan and deliver engaging Science lessons tailored to the individual needs of students with SEN• Work with small groups of students in a nurturing environment designed for their emotional and educational needs• Advocate for outdoor learning and incorporate it into lessons whenever possible• Assess and track student progress using assessment software• Provide regular feedback to students, parents, and school leadership• Embed British values and enhance students' spiritual, moral, social, and cultural education• Collaborate with other teachers and professionals to support student development• Contribute to risk assessments and safeguarding procedures• Ensure a safe and structured learning environment, mindful of students' sensory needs• Participate in school meetings, inset days, and continuous professional development• Engage with the local community and develop learning opportunities beyond the classroom
Compliance Responsibilities:• Adhere to all relevant school policies and procedures• Maintain awareness of risk assessments for the learning environment• Demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Administrative Responsibilities:• Prepare lesson plans and teaching resources• Input data and analyse reports for student progress tracking• Contribute to individual education plans and student assessments• Assist in writing reports for parents/carers twice a year
Health & Safety Responsibilities:• Ensure the safety and well-being of yourself and students in the school environment
