Your new companyHays are delighted to be partnering exclusively with a highly innovative life sciences venture close to Southampton. The organisation has garnered the interest of industry partners due to its market-leading applications in the medical space. Due to planned growth, a Financial Controller is required on a permanent basis.Your new roleThis new role will report to the Finance lead and will be responsible for undertaking day-to-day ownership of all aspects of the company's financial operations. This will be a hands-on role, partnering with both internal and external stakeholders. You will be instrumental in growing the team as the business expands.Key Responsibilities:

  • Management and preparation of management accounts and financial reports.
  • Overseeing company accounts.
  • Preparation and submission of VAT returns and all subsequent VAT matters.
  • Cash flow projections and treasury management.
  • Working on all related tax matters.
  • Annual audit and statutory accounts.
  • Managing the company's financial systems.
  • Input into the company's annual budgeting, forecasting and reforecasting.
  • Managing R&D project cost tracking, working closely with the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Developing and implementing appropriate financial controls that align with growth.
  • Providing company secretarial support.

What you'll need to succeedYou will be qualified ACA / ACCA with exposure to team leadership. Experience with Xero is desirable. You will be comfortable in highly changeable VC backed organisations where you will communicate with high-level investors and stakeholders internally and externally. You will have worked previously in a Biotech / Pharmaceutical styled environment.
