Robertson Bell are supporting a sizeable, complex and unique organisation based in Southampton to recruit an interim Financial Accountant on an initial four-month contract. Following a recent internal promotion, this role joins the team at the busiest period in the accounting calendar – providing support to the newly promoted Head of Finance who you will work in close partnership with over the coming months.  

The interim Financial Accountant will be responsible for:

  • Working closely with the Head of Finance to produce the Annual Accounts and support the production of the Annual Report.
  • Managing the Balance Sheet with a particular focus on accounting for Fixed Assets and Leases (IFRS 16).
  • Producing and checking Trial Balances with supporting notations in preparation for Audit.  
  • Engage with Auditors and the organisations parent company to answer accounts-related queries and provide evidence where required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and templates, particularly within MS Excel.

This is a hybrid role, with three days per week required in a centrally based Southampton office.

The successful candidate will need:

  • A background in producing Financial Accounts.
  • Practical experience in Fixed Asset, and ideally Lease Accounting (IFRS 16).
  • To be at least a CCAB or CIMA finalist.
  • High Level MS Excel Skills and IT literacy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills.
