Your new company

You will be working for a local SME in Southampton who are seeking a dedicated, organised Assistant Accountant to join the finance team. They operate within a number of locations across the UK, with the head office being Southampton.

Your new role

  • Oversee Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger, and Payroll functions, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately.
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations and resolution of discrepancies.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Conduct Key Performance Indicator (KPI) analysis to support business decision-making.
  • Perform cost management analysis to identify areas for financial efficiency.
  • Assist with external audits by preparing audit schedules and addressing auditor queries.
  • Provide necessary documentation and implement recommendations from post-audit reviews.
  • Support in the preparation of annual budgets.
  • Conduct cashflow forecasting and ensure effective cashflow management.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Full right to work in the UK, with prior experience working within a UK finance function.
  • Prior experience working in a similar role, managing AP & AR processes, Financial Reporting & Cashflow management.
  • AAT Qualified, ACCA or CIMA Part Qualified or Qualified by experience
  • Strong analytical skills are a necessity.
  • Strong MS Excel Skills
