Baggage Handler

Overview

A Baggage Handler is responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient handling of passenger's luggage during embarkation and disembarkation on cruise ships, ferries, or cargo vessels. This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a customer service-oriented approach.

Key Responsibilities:

- Luggage Handling:
- Load and unload passenger's baggage from ship to dock and vice verse.
- Safely operate and manoeuvre luggage carts, trolleys, or other equipment used for transportation of bags.
- Stack and organise luggage efficiently to maximise space and ensure security.
- Security and Safety
- Follow proper security protocols when handling luggage to avoid loss, damage, or tampering.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations related to heavy lifting, equipment handling, and working in high-traffic areas.
- Report any damaged or suspicious luggage to supervisors or security personnel.

Work Environment:
- The role involves working in a port terminal and on-board ships, which may require exposure to varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
- The position is physically demanding, involving heavy lifting and long periods of standing or walking.
- Shifts may vary based on ship schedules, requiring early mornings, late nights, and weekend work.
