Job Title: Senior TechnologistLocation: SouthamptonDuration: 6 months+Pay: £17.19 per hour (PAYE) or £23.00 per hour (Umbrella)This role focuses on supporting e-liquid product development within a laboratory setting, contributing to new breakthrough technology in the tobacco industry as part of our clients innovation objectives. Here's a breakdown of the key objectives, expectations, and required skills:

Key Objectives and Responsibilities:
  1. E-liquid Formulation & Development:
    • Prepare and produce small batches of e-liquids in the lab.
    • Handle raw materials and conduct sample preparation for consumer product testing.
  2. Product Testing & Qualification:
    • Support sample qualification and submission for testing (e.g., consumer testing).
    • Conduct basic wet chemistry tests such as pH, density, UV-VIS, and more to ensure quality control standards are met.
  3. Collaboration & Communication:
    • Work closely with internal product development teams and consumer testing agents to drive product development.
    • Engage effectively with key stakeholders to provide support and deliver results.
  4. Reporting & Documentation:
    • Maintain detailed records of e-liquid batch manufacturing, manage data summaries, and generate reports for approvals.
    • Support ISO quality management systems and audits.
Required Experience:
  1. Laboratory Experience:
    • Hands-on experience with lab equipment and practical laboratory tasks related to e-liquid chemistry, sample preparation, and batch manufacturing.
    • Experience handling hazardous materials safely and efficiently.
  2. Task Management:
    • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, and execute tasks based on project needs.
  3. Collaboration & Communication:
    • Proven ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders in a collaborative, team-focused environment.
Technical / Functional Skills:
  1. Self-Sufficiency & Flexibility: Ability to work independently and adapt under pressure, maintaining high flexibility.
  2. Teamwork & Collaboration: A strong team player who supports critical projects with a "can-do" attitude.
  3. Attention to Detail & Organisation: Strong attention to detail and structured approach to work, with excellent organisational and communication skills.

Education / Qualifications:
  1. Required:
    • A Bachelor's degree (BSc) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
  2. Beneficial (useful but not essential):
    • Experience making e-liquids in a lab setting.
    • Familiarity with product and sample quality testing.
    • Knowledge of relevant analytical techniques.
Additional Skills:
  • Project Management: Experience in managing short and long-term product formulation requests using formal tools.
  • Safety & Quality Focus: Adherence to safety protocols, PPE guidelines, and quality standards as part of daily operations.
