A Sensor Manufacturing Technician is required to join a high-tech company in Southampton that specialises in commercialising advanced chemical sensor products for pollutant monitoring in the water industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manufacture sensors according to required specifications, timelines, and production targets.
  • Build sub-assemblies and complete sensor device assembly.
  • Conduct sensor calibrations and quality checks before release.
  • Package and prepare sensor devices for shipment.
  • Maintain and update production documentation.
  • Assist with the fabrication of test and calibration rigs to ensure product performance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (mechanical, electronics, software, chemistry) to ensure efficient manufacturing.
  • Support mechanical engineers in repairing returned sensor devices.
  • Carry out factory-based sensor reconditioning as needed.
  • Install equipment at customer sites as required.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Hands-on experience in an engineering or technical role.
  • Practical skills in mechanical assembly, sensor calibration, and related manufacturing tasks.
  • High attention to detail and ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Strong organisational skills and self-motivation.
  • Ability to work independently and within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Full UK driving license and willingness to travel for installations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in engineering, manufacturing, or technical disciplines (Degree, Apprenticeship, BTEC, HNC/HND).
  • Industry experience in sensor manufacturing, high-tech products, or water-related technology.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001/14001 quality management systems.
