Job Title: Class 2 HGV Driver - Recycling Collection and Delivery

Job Description:

We are seeking a qualified Class 2 HGV Driver to join our team, focusing on the transportation of recyclable materials between port facilities and recycling centres. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the company's commitment to sustainability by ensuring the timely and safe delivery and collection of recycling materials from ships, dockyards, and surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities:

- Collection and Delivery: Drive a Class 2 vehicle to collect recycling materials from ports, ships, and dockyards, transporting them to designated recycling centres.

- Adherence to Port Protocols: Follow all safety and operational procedures related to port entry and exit, including compliance with maritime security regulations.

- Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance: Perform daily vehicle checks, ensuring the vehicle is in safe working condition and reporting any defects.

- Loading and Unloading: Safely load and unload recycling materials, including metal, plastics, and cardboard. Use of hydraulic lifts or other lifting equipment may be required.

- Compliance: Adhere to all legal driving and working time regulations as well as company policies related to health and safety.

- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of collections and deliveries, including relevant documentation for port authorities and the recycling company.

- Communication: Liaise with port staff, recycling site managers, and dispatch teams to ensure efficient scheduling and reporting of any operational issues.

- Customer Service: Represent the company professionally when dealing with clients, port authorities, and other stakeholders.

Essential Requirements:

- Class 2 HGV Licence: Valid Class 2 (Category C) licence.

- Driver CPC: Up-to-date Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) card.

- Tachograph Card: Digital tachograph card for compliance with driving hours regulations.

- Experience: Previous experience in driving a Class 2 vehicle, ideally within a port or logistics environment.

Desirable Skills:

- Experience in the recycling industry or waste management.

- Forklift or other material-handling qualifications.

- ADR licence for the transport of hazardous goods (if applicable to port operations).

- Familiarity with GPS systems and vehicle tracking technology.

Working Hours:

- Full-time, Monday to Friday, with potential weekend shifts depending on port activity and shipping schedules.

- Shift-based work may be required to accommodate port operations.
