Data Protection - Information Management - 3 month contract (Umbrella - inside IR35) - Southampton (Hybrid)

I am looking for an experienced Data Protection Specialist to support my client, a prominent organisation in Southampton. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in ensuring data protection compliance and best practices within a complex and busy setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert guidance on data protection compliance, including GDPR and UK data protection legislation.
  • Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for new and existing projects, identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Manage Information Rights requests (e.g., Subject Access Requests) in a timely and compliant manner.
  • Investigate and respond to data breaches, ensuring appropriate escalation and resolution.
  • Develop and maintain privacy notices and policies that align with organisational practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee and advise on data sharing agreements, ensuring clarity and compliance with legal standards.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Proven track record of working on data protection in large, enterprise environments.
  • Strong understanding of GDPR, UK Data Protection Act, and related regulations.
  • Experience with privacy governance frameworks and the implementation of organisational policies.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage with stakeholders across all levels.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM, or equivalent) are advantageous but not essential.

This role requires a proactive individual with a sharp eye for detail and the ability to balance legal requirements with practical business needs.
