Part time Flood risk manager needed in Southampton £20.31ph ref 5251193

The requirement is part time (0.5 FTE).

The working pattern is not fixed providing hours are delivered within the Mon-Fri bandwidth, for example candidate could choose a pattern of work Mon, Thurs, Fri or Tues, Weds Thurs, providing flexibility to ensure business needs are met.

Whilst there is some flexibility in working location (mix of remote and in office), the candidate will be required to and be able to attend Southampton to undertake site visits associated with the assigned work package.

Flood Risk Management are looking for a candidate to support with the delivery of the roles and responsibilities of the Lead Local Flood Authority, as outlined within the Job Description, on a part time basis (0.5 FTE).

There are two key areas of focus:

Package One

Technical review and assessment of drainage plans and strategies prepared by developers to support development in Southampton. The assessment must ensure that the proposals are suitable for the site and meet the requirements outlined within national standards and planning policy.

Provision of technical advice and comments from the Lead Local Flood Authority to the Local Planning Authority in a timely manner.

The candidate must have experience in assessment of sustainable drainage systems and review of documents in line with planning policy.

The candidate must have a sound understanding of the application of national and local planning policy in relation to flood risk and drainage.

Package Two

Support in the management of projects related to the management of surface water flood risk.

This includes working with key stakeholder, contractors and the Council to deliver projects from design to construction. This may include writing of procurement specifications (in line with Southampton City Council Procurement Guidance), and ensuring that delivery in on time, to the required standard and within the budgets assigned.

The candidates must have good knowledge and demonstrate experience of at least one of the above work packages. The candidate must be able to work with minimal supervision and manage their workload to ensure delivery within the timescales provided.
