Your new companyI have been engaged by a specialist software provider to recruit a Database Engineer for their modern head office in Southampton, with a requirement to work on-site three days per week. Your new roleAs a Database Engineer, you will collaborate with a team of software engineers to design, develop, and maintain the database system for both new and existing solutions. The database will be utilised internally by the engineering teams and externally by customers for production applications. What you'll need to succeed
- Plan works to meet project deadlines, accommodate demands by development teams, set priorities and escalate issues appropriately.
- Monitor database management systems as well as evaluate database performance to maximise efficiency.
- Provide recommendations and participate in design sessions with engineering teams for data restructuring and performing complex maintenance.
- Deploy and manage changes in lower environments, staging and production.
- Perform scheduled maintenance.
- Strong on T-SQL methods for optimisation of existing complex stored procedures for performance improvements and contention resolution
- Manage database install, configure, monitor and upgrade in production and non-production environments.
- Implement technical support for enterprise monitoring, backup, alerting and security compliance for SQL instances.
- Proactive and reactive performance analysis, monitoring, troubleshooting and resolution of database issues.
- Assist engineers and product owners with SQL queries and tuning.
