Early Years Assistant - Southampton - ASAP start!

Academics are recruiting on behalf of an 'Outstanding' SEN School in Southampton who are looking to appoint an experienced Early Years Assistant to work in their Early Years Hub.

This is a full-time, term-time, temp to perm contract so please only apply if you are ultimately looking for a permanent position as an Early Years Assistant. They have a number of support staff positions they are looking to fill to start ASAP.

To be considered for this position you MUST have GCSE C or above in English and Maths, or level 2 Functional Skills English and Maths.

Working hours: 8.45am to 3.15pm

They are looking for for an experienced and empathetic Early Years Assistant who is able to build positive relationships with young children. Someone who can support, develop and encourage the children with their learning and play and act as a positive role model. If you are looking for a rewarding and satisfying job, this role is for you.

The school caters for primary aged pupils with complex learning difficulties including autism, speech and language disorders and challenging behaviours. All pupils have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Due to the needs of the children, this role is ideally suited to someone who has previously worked with children with special educational needs.

The successful Early Years Assistant will have have experience of working with children within a school setting, ideally within Early Years. Experience of using PECS, Makaton etc would be an advantage. They are looking for someone who is compassionate, enthusiastic, reliable and resilient.

You will be required to support on a 1:1 and small group basis and assist with feeding and personal hygiene duties.
