Academics Southampton are looking for a passionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school who cater for boys aged 11-16 years with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, in the Locks Heath area of Southampton.

This is a full-time, term-time temp to perm contract starting ASAP on a temporary to permanent contract so please only apply if you are looking for a permanent role. You must be local to, or be willing to commute to Locks Heath, Southampton to be considered. You will need to be available Monday to Friday for this role, as the school need someone who is going to be consistent in the classroom. SEMH Teaching Assistant - Southampton

The school's curriculum allows their students to experience a mainstream academic experience whilst being supported by a highly skilled and supportive staff team. They also have smaller class sizes to ensure academic and pastoral progress. They enable students through their learning journey and are always prepared to support them through the consequences of actions and guide them toward being able to regulate themselves in preparation for the life journey ahead of them.

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will be required to support students on a 1:1 and small group basis. Experience of working in a school with pupils with SEN/SEMH would be an advantage. The suitable person will be passionate about education and supporting and developing children with additional needs, be calm, engaging, empathetic yet firm and have the ability to think on their feet.
