School Staffing Solutions is seeking an exceptional Teaching Assistant to join a SEN school in Southampton. This school team support primary aged children with social, emotional, and mental health needs, many of these children have experienced trauma and can display very challenging behaviour. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in making a tangible difference in the lives of these vulnerable young people.

**Who kind of person are we looking for**

  • Someone who is patient and nurturing in their approach
  • Displays resilience and the ability to handle challenging/aggressive behaviour
  • Not afraid to help children regulate their feelings and emotions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Min 6 months experience working with children in a voluntary or paid capacity
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative
  • Good sense of humour and strong relationship-building skills
  • Current DBS on the update service or willingness to apply

**What will you be doing**

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in:

  • Providing 1:1 and overall class support to children in KS1-2
  • Ensuring a consistently high quality of education in a safe and stimulating environment
  • Guiding children of all abilities to reach their full potential
  • Supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health needs
  • Collaborating with teachers and other professionals to develop and implement individualised learning plan
  • De-escalating challenging behaviour
