Duties

  • Provide home care support to clients, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Assist with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Support clients with meal preparation, ensuring nutritional needs are met.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies as needed to promote positive interactions.
  • Offer companionship and emotional support to enhance the well-being of clients.
  • Maintain accurate records of client progress and any changes in behaviour or health status.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including nurses, to ensure comprehensive care.

Skills

  • Experience in home care or nursing home settings is highly desirable.
  • Candidate Must have experience with challenging behaviours, mental health and substance mis-use
  • Strong understanding of first aid procedures and emergency response protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with clients and their families.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Empathy and patience when dealing with individuals requiring support.
  • Strong organisational skills to manage multiple client needs efficiently.
  • Staff ratios would need to be 2:1, at least initially, with skills in managing behaviour which challenges, including safe restraint, and ideally minimal recourse to medication to sedate. Ideally a small staff group with limited turnover.
