About the Role: As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and testing of solar PV systems, primarily ground-mounted installations. You will ensure these systems are performing optimally, while upholding the highest standards of safety and compliance. This role also involves occasional supervision of third-party contractors and requires a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities:

Perform routine maintenance, testing, and remedial work on solar PV systems.

Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance in line with annual plans.

Diagnose and resolve faults in underperforming systems.

Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including site-specific risk assessments.

Maintain accurate and detailed records of electrical testing for audits.

Oversee and coordinate the work of third-party contractors.

Provide detailed reports of activities using CMMS or manual reporting systems.

Ensure all work complies with industry best practices, company procedures, and legal standards.
About You: You are a highly skilled and motivated professional with substantial experience in solar PV operations and maintenance. Your technical expertise is complemented by a strong understanding of health and safety protocols, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. A full UK driving licence is required, as this role involves travelling to various sites within the region.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:

Qualification in an electrical, mechanical, or engineering discipline.

City & Guilds 17/18th BS7671 Wiring Regulations.

City & Guilds 2399-13 (Solar PV Installation) and 2399-14 (Solar PV Maintenance) or equivalent.

AP15/OP40 Certification and City & Guilds 2391-52 Test & Inspect.

Minimum of 3 years' experience in utility-scale solar PV O&M.

Proficiency in network diagnostics and remote communications.

Expertise in LV/HV planned preventative maintenance and G59 compliance.

Strong understanding of central and string inverters, with relevant manufacturers' training.

Familiarity with earthing systems and power electronics.

Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office and CMMS software.
