Are you an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer looking to make a significant impact in a dynamic and innovative environment?

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Design Engineer to be a pivotal member of their engineering team based in a brand new and state of the art R&D & manufacturing facility in Portsmouth. You will support production activities and advance the design and analysis of electrical parts, components, subassemblies, and power distribution systems used in a wide range of applications such as automotive, rail, energy and more.

As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will:

  • To work across NPD/I (New Product Development/Introduction), released products, applications and facilities.
  • To develop the electrical design of product, application or equipment inclusive of wiring, busbars, component selection and their internal layout design.
  • To perform and document calculations to demonstrate the electrical designs meet requirements.
  • Support, define and carry out all required bench development/verification/validation testing to ensure achievement of all functional objectives and assure compliance to programme goals.
  • Be responsible for 400V/230V grid system cables, wiring systems and associated switchgear selection and installation to facilitate the electronics products.
  • To support, develop and perform product qualification testing including CE, UKCA, UL related (eg EMC & LVD) testing and assessment.

Key Skills and Competencies needed as a Senior Electrical Design Engineer:

  • Extensive experience in the design of 400V three phase and 230V single phase electrical systems
  • Competence in performing design calculations for power distribution equipment and related electrical/controls requirements.
  • Excellent fault-finding skills.
  • Good experience in commissioning electrical systems particularly related to grid systems.
  • Good awareness of health and safety issues and strong adherence to safety policies.
