Fibre Process Engineer

My client are looking for a Process Engineer to join their Fibre R&D department. The successful candidate will develop, monitor, and control specialty optical fibre fabrication processes and introduce innovative fibre designs for high-end industrial fibre laser systems. This role is essential to the company growth plans and the introduction of new products.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Develop novel and enhanced specialty fibre fabrication processes and products for high-performance industrial fibre lasers.
  • Fabricate R&D/prototype optical fibre using our dedicated manufacturing facility and state-of-the-art machinery.
  • Transfer new fibre products and processes into production.
  • Participate in fibre laser technology and new product introduction (NPI) projects.
  • Diagnose and resolve machine and process faults.
  • Provide training and documentation to manufacturing staff.
  • Commission new fibre manufacturing equipment and instrumentation.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of hands-on process engineering experience in a high-tech/high-precision industry.
  • Proficient IT skills and data handling.
  • Experience in fibre optics, laser, or photonics fields within industry or research organisation is preferable.
  • Hands-on experience with optical fibre fabrication and/or characterisation is advantageous.
  • BSc or higher in Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline. Relevant industrial experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
