Role Summary

As part of the composite value stream, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of product, in line with local manufacturing instruction to produce high quality composite components for a variety of aircraft. This role involves the inspection, analysis and clearance of monolithic, sandwich and other complex composite components using Ultrasonic NDT Methods. For anyone looking to excel into a level 2 in NDT we will provide FULL training over around an 18 month period so that you can become a skilled Level 2 NDT technician.

Lates + 20% uplift on salary
Hours: 14:15-22:30 (Mon-Thu) / 12:00-18:00 (Fri)

Nights + 25% uplift on salary
Hours: 22:00-06:00 (Sunday) 22:30-06:00 (Mon-Thu)

If you don't have Level 2 in NDT the salary will be the below (Full Training Provided):
Starting salary - £30640 pa (Lates + 20% £36,768 | Nights + 25% £38,300)
12 months experience/training levels achieved £34148 (Lates + 20% £40,977.60 | Nights + 25% £42,685)

If you already have the Level 2 & Ultrasonic Testing the salary is the below:
Level 2 qualified Ultrasonic - £35259 (Lates + 20% £42,310.80 | Nights + 25% £44,073.75)

Desirable Role Specific - FULL Training Will Be Provided

Will include but is not limited to:

  • Operation of manual, semi-automated and automated ultrasonic test equipment
  • Performing composite leak tests, SPC and recording FAI requirements to local manufacturing instruction
  • Review, analysis and clearing of serial production composite components
  • Preparation of NDT procedures and instructions
  • Providing support as a Level 2 NDT Engineer to the wider business for; improvement activities, R&D, NPI etc.
  • Undertaking additional training on other NDT methods when required
  • Capable of interpreting and evaluating process specifications, national & international standards and inspection results.
  • Supporting technical audits, including internal, third party and regulatory.
  • Please note that this role will involve physical activity. Therefore, applicants must be capable of undertaking activities with appropriate assistance if required.

Desirable

  • Qualified in BS EN4179 NDT Level UT in the Ultrasonic Method which has been administered by a UK NANTDB approved organisation; and
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience at Level 2 in the Ultrasonic NDT Method.
  • HNC in Engineering or relevant subject or equivalent experience
  • Fulfil the near vision and colour perception requirements of QAP F.04.
  • Aerospace experience with Level 2 Ultrasonic NDT
  • Familiarity with the other NDT methods and supporting internal/external technical audits, surveys and assessments
  • Knowledge of product technology utilised within the aviation industry
  • An understanding of the NADCAP accreditation process

  • Quality - Ensure that all Quality standards, processes and procedures are complied with. All work is completed with care and attention minimising wastage
  • Cost Management - Support cost reduction and management initiatives through reducing unnecessary expenditure
  • Knowledge & Skills - Keep knowledge and training up to date for necessary operations to the best of your knowledge and belief to achieve specification and acceptable standards for your role. For example, Approved Operator (AO) stamp(s) to be kept up to date
  • Team Working - Must actively participate in team meetings and be prepared to share knowledge, coach and mentor trainees when required, be willing to be trained in other areas
  • Any other reasonable duties that fall in line with the level of the role
