Vessel Agent Team Leader

Do you have vessel & supervisory experience? A genuine passion for all things shipping, vessels and love working in and around the busy Port of Southampton?

Our client a global shipping line is looking to hire a Vessel Agent Team Leader to join their team based in Southampton.

The Role:

In this role you will be responsible for leading the Vessel Agent team in providing in-house agency/husbandry service to all group vessels.

The successful candidate and your team will ensure that all activities of the vessel call are fulfilled, the needs of the Master and crew are delivered in a safe and timely manner and abide by all port and other legal requirements, provide arrival and departure information on crew and passengers to all relevant local authorities. Ensure compliance with UK policy in relations to vessel clearance and onward voyage, booking berths, as necessary.

Arrange pilot and towage to ensure safe movement of the vessel, consulting with relevant stakeholders as necessary also arrange provision of stores, fuel, spare parts etc for the vessel prior to arrival and during port stay.

The successful candidate will also check customs clearing cargo with UK Customs to ensure cargo can be loaded or discharged to/from vessel and Complete “Statement of Fact” and “Port Costs” and approve invoices 

Essential Criteria:

  • Previous experience in vessel agent/husbandry role
  • Knowledge of local agencies, regulatory authorities
  • Knowledge of UK HMRC T1 ship spares procedures
  • Good knowledge of customs clearance and export/import procedures. 
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Full clean driving licence
