Weekend Support Worker
Pay rate: £12.88 - £13.91 per hour (weekly pay) Shift Pattern will be Saturdays/Sundays - 9am to 5pm or 5pm to 10pmRequirements: Full UK Drivers License Required
Unfortunately, we cannot provide VISA sponsorshipand we do not hire on a relocation basis, you must currently be based in/around the Southampton area and able to commute.
This role will be supporting a gentleman with a brain injury and concurrent health complications, he is also non-verbal following a road traffic accident. He is fully aware of what is going on around him and able to answer question, he likes to watch tv and films and he enjoys days out with his support workers. This role is a 2 to 1 from 0800 until 2200. Night shift is lone working, however you will have adequate shadow shifts and support from a team of long standing team members who know the gentleman and his needs well. He requires PEG feeding, Cough Assistance & Oral Suction. You will receive full clinical training to support this. Key Responsibilities
Support Workers cover all manners of support for others – from companionship and days out, to personal care and housekeeping.
- Support with all facets of daily living
- Foster a supportive and inclusive environment
- Ensure the individual's safety and well-being at all times
- Communicate effectively with the individual and other team members
- Maintain confidentiality and respect privacy
- Adhere to care plans and guidelines provided
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Hold a Full UK drivers license & have access to your own vehicle
- Have experience/Confidence with the following: Hoists, Manual handling, PEG feeding, Cough Assist Machine & Oral Suction
- Be patient and welcoming
- Be Helpful, reliable & professional
- Able to help with personal care
- Potentially administer medication and Ideally hold an NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in Health & Social Care or related topic, or be willing to study towards this
- Worked as a carer previously in the UK (Preferably atleast 3 months experience)
- Experience working closely with families of the supported (Preferred not essential)
- Experience working with brain injuries would be beneficial but not essential
- Clinical experience would be beneficial but not essential, as you will have to do the following with full training: Hoisting, Manual handling, PEG feeding, Cough Assist & Oral Suction
- Bonus points if you like pets! The client has two very friendly dogs
