Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Workshop Controller to join their dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of their busy workshop, ensuring that all work is completed efficiently, on time, and to the highest standards. This role requires excellent leadership and organisational skills to manage technicians, apprentices, liaise with customers, and maintain smooth workshop operations whilst working alongside the Service Manager.

Workshop Controller - Key Responsibilities:

  • Workshop Management: Oversee the daily operation of the workshop, ensuring the timely and high-quality completion of all work.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and motivate a team of technicians and apprentices, providing guidance and ensuring a collaborative working environment.
  • Job Allocation: Distribute work to technicians based on their skill set, ensuring that the workload is balanced and work is completed efficiently.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all work is completed to manufacturer and company standards, carrying out regular quality inspections.
  • Customer Service: Liaise with customers regarding work progress, expected completion times, and any additional required repairs.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure that all work is carried out following the company’s health and safety policies.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor technician performance, ensuring targets and productivity levels are met.
  • Administrative Duties: Keep accurate records of all work carried out, including vehicle logs, job cards, and invoices.

Workshop Controller - Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Workshop Controller / Senior Customer Service Advisor or in a similar role within a Vehicle Main Dealer or a Garage.
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of vehicle repairs and servicing procedures.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with workshop management software.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
