Teaching Assistant (SEMH) - Southampton - Must drive!

Academics are recruiting on behalf of a small school in Southampton which caters for pupils aged 11-16 years, specialising in social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).

Students are placed at this school when mainstream or specialist schools have been unable to accomodate them. As such, they are likely to have been out of education for a long period of time, having exhausted multiple placements. The young people attending come from a variety of backgrounds including family homes, foster care and residential units, but most are Looked After Children (LAC) by the Local Authority.

Students either have an Education Health Care Plan (ECHP) or are undergoing statutory assessment. They have all been identified as having complex and additional needs.

The school offers students a bespoke learning environment tailored to their needs, with personalised classrooms and plentyful outdoor space as they seek to approach learning in new and engaging ways.

They are looking for a number of empathetic and nurturing Teaching Assistant's with experience of supporting young people with SEMH. You will be required to support students on a 1:1 basis in the classroom and off-site so this is only suited to a driver, ideally with access to their own vehicle.

This is an on-going, temp to perm position starting ASAP.

If you live in Southampton, drive and love working with young people with challenging behaviours and complex needs, please apply!
