Learning Support Assistant (LSA)

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work one-to-one with a Year 1 child with Down's Syndrome. This is a full-time role and an excellent opportunity for someone with relevant experience to make a real difference in a young learner's educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one support for a Year 1 child with Down's Syndrome, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals.
  • Assist with social, emotional, and academic development in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement and adapt support strategies.
  • Foster a positive, encouraging relationship with the child to boost their confidence and independence.
  • Support the child during classroom activities, playtimes, and transitions throughout the school day.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with additional needs (no formal qualifications required).
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
  • Strong communication skills to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external professionals.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to meet the child's evolving needs.
