Our client, a major player in the technology and retail sector, is on the lookout for a Technical Security Lead to join their dynamic team on a permanent basis in Southampton. The role is pivotal to ensuring all IT implementations are secure and monitored, particularly given the increasing landscape of cyber security attacks.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing and maintaining a comprehensive security data and tooling strategy aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluating and integrating appropriate security tools and technologies to enhance the organisation's overall security posture.
  • Owning and managing the group technical security standards and principles, ensuring their adherence across all IT activities.
  • Developing and delivering security roadmaps and staying abreast of industry trends.
  • Identifying and mitigating potential security risks and vulnerabilities within systems and applications.
  • Managing relationships with key security partners and technology providers, including Cyber Insurance.
  • Supporting Networks and Infrastructure teams with effective security designs such as firewalls, encryption protocols, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Designing security safeguards for the organisation's platforms.
  • Acting as Security Technology Design Authority and approver at relevant Architectural Governance Boards.
  • Facilitating audit processes to ensure compliance with required standards.
  • Mentoring analysts and other members of the overarching cybersecurity function.


Job Requirements:

  • Proven professional experience in IT/cybersecurity.
  • Good knowledge of the cyber security industry, products, and service trends.
  • Extensive knowledge of current cyber security threat types and mitigation controls.
  • Knowledge of standards such as NIST, MITRE, OWASP.
  • Strong technical background in areas like Microsoft, Unix, Oracle, SAP, Cloud, Digital, Networks.
  • Capability of discussing technical security issues in a non-technical manner.
  • Understanding of the business relevance of security risks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proactive approach with the confidence to drive discussions and decision-making.
  • Ability to manage competing demands and work under pressure.
  • Personality, creativity, and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • High flexibility and willingness to travel as required.
  • Languages: English required; French, Polish, and other languages are an advantage.
