We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a passionate Design & Technology (DT) Teacher specializing in Engineering to join a secondary school in Southampton. This long-term role is part-time, with 2-3 days per week, starting as soon as possible and running through to July 2025, with potential for extension.

Job Description:
As a Part-Time Design & Technology Teacher, you will deliver engaging and practical lessons focused on Engineering, sparking creativity and technical innovation in students. You will play a key role in inspiring students to explore problem-solving, design, and manufacturing processes. The role provides the opportunity to work within a supportive and enthusiastic team, making a lasting impact on student learning and achievement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging Engineering lessons aligned with the national curriculum.
  • Create a stimulating and inclusive learning environment that motivates students to actively engage in technical subjects.
  • Assess student progress and provide regular, constructive feedback to support individual development.
  • Build positive relationships with students, fostering their technical skills, creativity, and critical thinking.
  • Ensure safety and a supportive environment during practical engineering lessons.
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the DT/Engineering department.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A degree in Design & Technology, Engineering, or a related subject.
  • Experience teaching Design & Technology or Engineering in a secondary school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of the national curriculum for DT and Engineering.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire students.
  • A genuine passion for teaching and for inspiring students in the field of Engineering.
