Property Litigation Solicitor - Southampton

The Role

This position sits within a leading Real Estate Disputes Team, which advises a broad range of clients, from commercial landlords and developers to private individuals and landowners. The team specialises in complex and high-value disputes relating to property and land use, working closely with colleagues across the firm to achieve the best outcomes.

The successful candidate will be responsible for advising on and managing a varied caseload, including:

  • Landlord and tenant disputes (both residential and commercial)
  • Long leasehold advice and service charge recovery (Court and Tribunal)
  • Lease interpretation and consultation procedures
  • Rights of first refusal
  • Residential lease renewals and collective enfranchisement
  • Security of tenure and landlord-tenant relationships

This role provides plenty of scope to support the Partners and Senior Associates on more complex, high-value, and protracted cases, as well as mentoring Trainees and Junior Lawyers within the team.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in real estate disputes (property litigation) or a mixed litigation caseload with a property focus
  • A strong understanding of key legislation, including the Housing Acts, Landlord & Tenant Acts, and the Protection from Eviction Act
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and client-care skills
  • A commercial and pragmatic approach to handling cases
  • The ability to adapt to changing priorities and work collaboratively within a team
