About the Company:
We are an independent, established freight forwarding group based in Totton, Southampton. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional service to our clients and have built a reputation for reliability and efficiency in the logistics industry. We are now looking to expand our leadership team with an experienced and dynamic Operations Manager to oversee and lead our freight operations.
Role Overview:
As the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of our sea, Air & European Road freight operations, with a focus on imports and exports. You will lead a team of freight operators, ensuring that processes are efficient, customer-focused, and compliant with industry regulations. You will also take charge of financial reporting, ensuring operational costs are effectively managed, and have a strong focus on driving commercial success for the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage all sea, air and European Road freight operations, including imports and exports.
- Lead, motivate, and develop a team of freight operators, ensuring high performance and customer satisfaction
- Manage the financial aspects of operations, including budgeting, cost control, and reporting
- Ensure operational efficiency and compliance with industry regulations and best practices
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders
- Contribute to the commercial success of the business by identifying opportunities for growth and efficiency improvements
- Work closely with senior management to drive business strategy and performance
Key Experience Required:
- Strong experience in sea freight operations (imports and exports)
- Proven track record in leading and managing teams in a fast-paced logistics environment
- Commercially astute with a solid understanding of financial reporting and budget management
- Exceptional leadership and people management skills
- Excellent communication skills, both with internal teams and external clients
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
