Veritas Laboratory Services Ltd is seeking a Part-time Office Assistant to join our team at our Bartley laboratory in Southampton. This on-site role is 20-25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 08:00 and 16:00. The position offers a salary of £11.50 - £12.50 per hour, with an initial 3-month probationary contract.

About Us: Veritas Laboratory Services Ltd (VLS Ltd), founded in 2022, is a privately owned, independent analytical laboratory based in Southampton, Hampshire, UK. We specialise in the analysis of Dioxins/Furans, PCBs, PFAS (including PFOS and PFOA testing), and other Persistent Organic Pollutants in environmental samples such as soil, ash, sediment, sludge, and water (effluent, surface, and ground).

Job Description: As an Office Assistant, you will be responsible for a variety of day-to-day office tasks, including (but not limited to):

  • Responding to customer emails
  • Logging samples into the system
  • Creating Excel and PDF reports
  • Scanning and organising documents

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise and adapt to changing demands
  • Excellent listening skills and a good short-term memory
  • Ability to work independently, with self-motivation and initiative
  • Problem-solving skills—able to identify issues and resolve them through administrative processes or by consulting the relevant people
  • Good writing and communication skills, able to clearly articulate problems and solutions to both internal teams and customers
  • Competency with IT, including proficiency in Word, Excel, and email platforms
  • Effective time and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
  • A focus on accuracy, ensuring all work is thoroughly checked and correct before submission
