Site Manager (Ground works)

Southampton

We have an opportunity for a Site Manager or General Foreman to support a20m civil engineering and ground works project in Southampton.

Working alongside a Project Manager you will be required to support the project team with the management of up 40 site operatives and lead several supervisors with operations on the ground.

The role will require the manager to spend approximately 70% on site and 30% in the office and take a proactive lead on site activities, safety, quality, and programme.

The suitable candidate for this role must have previously worked on larger scale civil engineering and ground works projects.

Must have valid SMSTS or SSSTS considered, First Aid and CSCS Card.

Duties include:

  • Site Briefings and tool box talks to work force.
  • Site coordination of labour and plant and managing site logistics
  • Problem solving and communicating instructions from the office to site.
  • Ensure all permits are in place, plant checks carried out and safety is kept as a priority on site.
  • Proactively work with engineers to overcome any design changes and ensure all setting out and quality is kept up to date
  • Be proactive across a large site to ensure workforce safety is kept to an excellent standard in respect of walkways, traffic management, welfare areas etc
