The Role:Silcom Recruitment is partnering with a European maritime manufacturing company to find an experienced Marine Service Engineer. This dynamic role will be predominantly based around the south coast of the UK, however our client serves customers across the UK, Ireland, and Iceland. Our client offers exceptional growth opportunities and a varied, hands-on position for individuals with strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills. If you are a skilled engineer with marine industry experience or a transferable background, this could be your ideal next step.

Key Responsibilities & Requirements:

Perform maintenance and repair work both on board ships and in the workshop.

Utilise troubleshooting and fault-finding expertise to solve mechanical and electrical issues on complex marine systems.

Conduct inspections, commissioning, and sea trials to ensure smooth operation.

Strong mechanical background with knowledge of hydraulics, drive technology, and electrical engineering.

Ability to work independently as well as within a small, highly skilled team.

Mechanical education or equivalent experience required.

Experience in hydraulics, drive technology, or electrical systems is highly advantageous.

Willingness to travel, including overseas assignments. Extended periods of work away from home (up to several weeks/ month’s at a time) are part of the role.

Strong time management skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and reports.

Competent with basic computer skills for documentation.

Must hold a valid passport, driving licence, and have the ability to work abroad.

Experience in hydraulics, electrical, or mechanical engineering, particularly from military, aerospace, automotive, or nuclear industries, will be considered.

Package:

Basic Salary: £45,000

Overtime: Available, with generous rates, Saturdays time ½ & Sundays double time - £50 per hour!

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 40-hour working week as standard.
