Our client, a prominent organisation in the manufacturing sector, is currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team on a contract basis located at Antelope Park, Southampton.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create new and maintain existing 2D drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks
- Collaborate closely with R&D engineers to ensure rapid response and hands-on support
- Involved in assembly work including plastic moulding, PCBs, and metal work
- Production of models using a bill of materials comprising 15 to 20 elements
- Work primarily in the Southampton office, ideally 4 and 1/2 days per week
- Communicate effectively with team members and management to deliver design solutions
Job Requirements:
- Proficiency in SolidWorks is essential
- BTEC Level 3 or equivalent qualification
- Experience in mechanical design within the manufacturing sector
- Understanding of assembly processes including plastic moulding and PCBs
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Additional Information:
- Contract position, working 37.5 hours per week with a potential early finish on Fridays
- Face-to-face interview process with the R&D manager supported by HR
- Role falls inside IR35 regulations
