The Estates & Facilities Team ensure that the University has a built and physical environment that supports the activities of a world-class University, across a portfolio of academic, state of the art research, clinical, enterprise, workspace, residential, social amenity, sport and community facilities. Ambitious plans are afoot with an estates masterplan that will see £1bn of investment in enhancing and delivering a sustainable, inclusive estate over the next decade.Reporting to the Senior Mechanical Engineer (Projects), the Mechanical Engineer (Projects) will provide technical support and advice to projects, acting as key point of contact on project planning, preparation, prioritisation, co-ordination and delivery of mechanical engineering projects and programmes, including - planned works, long term maintenance, renewal programmes, one-off projects, and installations.Duties include technical support to key capital projects. These projects originate either from backlog maintenance or new investments matching the University’s growth and development as it invests in its estate. Directed by the Head of Mechanical, duties include ensuring compliance with specifications, cost estimates and timescales; to managing project budgets.The successful candidate will be a qualified Mechanical Engineer with a skill level equivalent to degree level with an appropriate construction related professional qualification. You will have a track record of managing construction and refurbishment projects in occupied premises.
