Reed Education Southampton are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Nursery Manager for a full time, temporary role within the Southampton area.

The school is a Preparatory School that is a thriving and happy co-ed independent school for pupils from age 2 to 11. The school occupies its own spacious 22-acre site on the outskirts of Romsey and enjoys the many benefits of being part of a through school, whilst retaining a unique identity as a rural nursery and prep school with a nurturing, family feel.    

The Nursery is an integral part of a thriving Prep School, and enjoys the extensive site facilities including forest school, farm, dining room, swimming pool and playing fields. We are looking for someone with great Nursery experience, who will work with us to manage and further develop our Nursery whilst ensuring we retain the independent school feel and quality of provision that we are known for.  

As the Nursery Manager, you will:

  • Ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the setting
  • Will deliver exceptional Early Years education and will play a pivotal role in the ongoing development and expansion of the Nursery
  • Line manage the Deputy Nursery Manager, and other Early Years Practitioners
  • Be a confident leader and team-player with a can-do attitude and a passion for supporting staff development
  • Be highly organised and able to juggle competing demands
  • Be someone who inspires the confidence of parents and carers.

What are the essentials for applicants?

  • Full and relevant Level 3 qualification in Early Years Education as a minimum (essential)
  • GCSE grade 4 (old grade C) or above in Maths and English (essential)
  • Minimum of 2 years leadership/management experience in a Nursery e.g. room leader/deputy nursery manager (essential)
  • Minimum 5 years Early Years experience (essential)
  • Excellent working knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (essential) and current Ofsted statutory guidance (preferable)
  • Knowledge of and track record of delivering outstanding learning opportunities and outcomes (essential)
  • Strong knowledge of and commitment to creating a safeguarding culture, health and safety culture, and inclusion culture, and a culture of continuous development and staff training (essential)

The salary for this role is currently set between £14-16 per hour, and is a long-term, full time role for up to three months (temporary).
