A market leader in the Optics/Photonics/Optoelectronics world, is now looking for a recent Physics/Photonics/Semiconductor Graduate or similar to join their team in Southampton.

The successful candidate will join the Optical and Electronics Team within my clients Delivery Team, reporting to the Optical Team Leader.

Your main duties will include assembly, testing and characterising waveguides, modules, chips, and other optical components

Working in an applied production/research environment this role will involve the assembly and characterisation of complex optical components and systems.

Within the role you will also assist with troubleshooting, resolving problems and the development of Optical and Electronics lab equipment, jigs and facilities.

You will also perform detailed optical analysis of new product ranges and contribute to improving production processes as well as fixing and optimising the performance of optical bench setups.

It is also expected that you will assist with the transition of new products into production, as well as undertaking general administration tasks including generating and updating manufacturing/build documentation.

Qualifications and Experience:

A relevant Masters Degree or equivalent knowledge is essential for this role.

In addition to your academic studies, you should have experience of photonic device measurement/ characterisation; using lasers or laser diodes; and optical components including fibres or waveguides.

With good hand eye coordination you should have the ability to manipulate small and delicate optical components accurately without damage.

To travel between sites, you should hold a clean driving licence and own transport.

Additional Information:

Candidates MUST be eligible to work and live in the UK, without requiring sponsorship. Copies of Visa and Passport will be requested for verification.

Salary / benefits: c£30-35k plus benefits
