Tate are recruiting on behalf of the University of Southampton for multiple Assistant Research Managers. We have a number of positions available and are seeking candidates who have experience in a variety of fields such as Communications, Global Commissioning and Medical.

You will be joining a dynamic team at the NIHR Evaluation, Trials and Studies Coordinating Centre (NETSCC) within the School of Healthcare, Enterprise and Innovation (HEI). We are dedicated to advancing healthcare research and innovation. We have several positions available and are seeking candidates who have experience in a variety of fields such as Communications, Global Commissioning and Medical.

Job Purpose: The Assistant Research Manager will work closely with colleagues to ensure the delivery of defined areas of the research management lifecycle. This includes identifying important research topics, managing the funding process, supporting researchers, and overseeing the publication of funded research.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the high-quality delivery and continuous improvement of a specified part of the research management life cycle.
  • Undertake or delegate administrative support processes, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
  • Review and improve procedures and processes to maximise efficiency.
  • Provide detailed advice and guidance on specialist processes and procedures to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Organise events, coordinate diaries, book venues, and ensure timely provision of information.
  • Line manage and supervise administrators where applicable.

Internal and External Relationships:

  • Collaborate with members of NETSCC, HEI, and NIHR colleagues.
  • Engage with a wide range of external stakeholders, including the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), Medical Research Council (MRC), NICE, researchers, advisory committee members, reviewers, evidence users, patients, and the public.

Person Specification:

  • Qualifications: A Level or equivalent vocational qualification (NVQ3) or proven work experience in relevant roles.
  • Skills: Ability to use complex information systems, analyse and interpret complex information, and present clear summaries.
  • Planning and Organising: Plan and prioritise work activities for yourself and the team.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and solve problems using good judgement and knowledge.
  • Management and Teamwork: Work effectively with colleagues, influence team dynamics, and manage changes in work processes.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with external stakeholders and senior stakeholders, maintaining confidentiality.
