A leading, privately owned housebuilder with over 28 years of industry experience is looking for an ambitious Planning Manager to join their growing team in Southampton. Recognised as one of the region's most respected developers, the company has built a reputation for delivering high-quality residential projects ranging from 30 to 200-unit developments. About the Role:
Reporting to the Land and Planning Director, the Planning Manager will play a crucial role in managing the planning process from site inception to securing approvals. You will work on a diverse range of residential projects, engaging with stakeholders, managing planning applications, and ensuring smooth project progression. This hands-on role offers excellent career development prospects within a supportive and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing the submission of planning applications and appeals to local planning authorities.

  • Preparing planning applications, conditions, and appeal documentation.

  • Conducting research on planning policies and previous applications to inform strategy.

  • Liaising with local authorities, planning officers, and key stakeholders.

  • Representing the company at planning committee meetings and public consultations.

  • Monitoring and reviewing local planning policies, including Local Plan Reviews.

  • Collaborating with external consultants, engineers, and legal teams.

  • Ensuring compliance with planning regulations and maintaining accurate records.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Urban Planning, Geography, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years' post-graduate experience in planning, either within a consultancy, local authority, or residential developer.

  • Strong knowledge of UK planning legislation and development policies.

  • Experience managing residential planning applications from inception to approval.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and planning-related software.
