Global manufacturing engineering business require a Senior Buyer to lead all procurement activity across machining and engineering parts. Applicants need operational and strategic procurement skills, developed in manufacturing or engineering arenas
The Senior Buyer will report to a Procurement Manager and will be responsible for implementing strategic sourcing plans across machining and engineering parts commodity, coordinating the activities/workloads of Buyers and ensuring continuity of supply to the facility.
Specific duties of the Senior Buyer include:
- Alignment of procurement commodity strategies with broader organisational goals
- Supplier Performance Management - improve underperforming suppliers, develop supplier recovery plans
- Delegate/Prioritise workload (supplier order books) of Buyers supporting the commodity spend area - machining, engineered parts
- Collaborate with Buyers to understand risks to MRP delivery and take mitigation actions
- Ensure data held in MRP and MS Excel is accurate
- Check supplier contracts to ensure business receives agreed SLAs
- Lead Monthly Business Reviews with Suppliers; ensuring OTIF/OTD and resolving issues around; price, quality, lead-time, quantities etc
Senior Buyer applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Procurement experience, as a Buyer, Senior Buyer, Strategic Buyer, Commodity Buyer, Procurement Manager
- Previous experience within a manufacturing or engineering business, ideally with machining, engineered parts or mechanical manufacturing process, suppliers
- Analytically minded - be able to analyse supplier performance, trends etc in MS Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, Formulas)
- An appreciation of issues such as traceability and quality, in regards to their impact on procurement activity
- MRP/ERP literacy
- Ability to organise and co-ordinate the activities of Buyers, while not being responsible for their management
