Accounts Assistant

Are you a detail-oriented individual with a passion for numbers and administration?TLP Recruitmentare seeking a dedicatedAccounts Assistantto join a well-established company based inSouthampton on a permanent basis!This role will play a vital part in supporting the Purchase and Sales Ledger teams, as well as managing cashiering functions.

Key Responsibilities:

Cashiering Duties

  • Complete the daily cashiering process, including preparation and reconciliation of banking activities
  • Download and review bank statements, preparing receipts and payments for allocation
  • Post nominal ledger journals for allocation and carry out daily bank reconciliations
  • Prepare cash and cheque receipts for banking and allocation

Sales Ledger Support

  • Assist the Sales Ledger team with administrative tasks, including managing the shared email inbox
  • Respond to customer inquiries via email and phone, send copy invoices, and raise or update queries
  • Monitor Point of Sale credit limit overrides and assist in chasing outstanding debt
  • Support the team with filing and general administrative tasks

Purchase Ledger Support

  • Help monitor the shared inbox for the Purchase Ledger team and process incoming mail
  • Register supplier invoices, allocate them for approval, and log to the companys system
  • Assist in reconciling supplier statements and setting up payment runs
  • Ensure all invoices are accurately processed with appropriate order numbers
  • Support the team with credit card and internet purchases following company procedures

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Basic understanding of accounts administration, ideally with experience in cashiering, sales ledger, or purchase ledger
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively
  • Competent in using company systems (experience with Kerridge would be advantageous)
  • Proactive in identifying and resolving issues within the companys quality systems
