Hours: 8:00am – 4:00pm, Full-Time

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated English Teacher to join our supportive secondary school located near Totton, Southampton. This is a full-time position starting immediately, with an initial contract running until December, and a strong likelihood of extending through to July 2025.

Job Description:

As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective lessons across a variety of year groups in KS3 and KS4. The successful English Teacher will have a passion for English literature and language, and be able to inspire students to develop their reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. This role offers the opportunity to shape young minds and contribute to the school's continued success in English education. The role is suitable for an Early Career Teacher for English or an experienced English Teacher looking for a longer term role. The School will also consider overseas trained English Teachers that come with experience working in the UK Schools. 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging English lessons in line with the national curriculum.
  • Encourage a love of reading, writing, and literature while fostering critical thinking skills.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback and support where necessary.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that motivates all students to achieve their best.
  • Build strong relationships with students and staff to contribute to the school’s collaborative ethos.
  • Adapt lessons to meet the needs of students at varying levels of ability.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A degree in English or a related field.
  • Experience teaching English in a secondary school setting.
  • Thorough knowledge of the national curriculum and assessment criteria for English.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
