Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are seeking dedicated and resilient Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to join a specialist SEMH school in Southampton.



About the Role:

As an LSA, you will play a vital role in supporting students with SEMH needs, helping them to engage with learning, build confidence, and develop essential life skills. You will work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Assist in the delivery of tailored learning activities, adapting resources to meet individual needs.
  • Support students in managing their emotions and behaviour, using de-escalation techniques where necessary.
  • Foster positive relationships and encourage engagement with learning.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff to implement individual learning plans.
  • Promote social and emotional development through structured interventions and activities.


Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, or behavioural challenges (desirable but not essential).
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting students.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A willingness to learn and adapt to different needs and strategies.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
