Pastoral Lead - Alternative Provision (Ages 15-19) - Southampton Full-Time - January Start - Salary: £26,000 - £30,000 per annum

Academics are recruiting on behalf a supportive Alternative Provision in Southampton, dedicated to providing a positive and nurturing environment for young people aged 15-19 years with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Needs (SEMH). Their aim is to empower students to overcome challenges, develop resilience, and achieve their full potential in both their academic and personal lives.

They are seeking a compassionate and experienced Pastoral Lead to join their team in January 2025 on a full-time, temp to perm contract.

As a Pastoral Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing the well-being of students, providing pastoral care, and offering practical support to help them thrive both inside and outside of the classroom. You will have the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of young people by creating a safe, supportive environment where they can build their confidence and work towards personal success.

You will be responsible for:

  • Building strong, trusting relationships with students, acting as a mentor and advocate.
  • Monitoring student progress, tracking attendance, behaviour, and personal development.
  • Working closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external agencies to ensure a coordinated approach to student support.
  • Leading regular pastoral meetings and providing guidance to staff on supporting students with SEMH needs.
  • Providing 1:1 or group interventions as necessary to support students in overcoming barriers to learning.
  • Developing and delivering well being programs, workshops, and support systems for students and staff.
