Position: Social Worker Team: Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH)Location: Southampton City Council. Office-based with potential for 1 day of remote working Rate: Up to £42 per hourRole OverviewPertemps are recruiting for a qualified and experienced Social Worker to join the MASH team in Southampton, handling initial contacts and referrals into Children's Services. As the 'front door' to Children Services, this dynamic role involves triaging contacts, gathering information from partner agencies, and making informed recommendations. Your expertise will contribute to timely and effective decisions for children and families requiring support.Key Responsibilities:
  • Handle incoming contacts, ensuring they are triaged efficiently.
  • Gather and analyse proportionate information from partner agencies.
  • Make appropriate recommendations for support services or safeguarding interventions.
  • Engage with referrers, families, and professionals to ensure clear and effective communication.
  • Represent and present findings at strategy meetings.
  • Use a systemic and restorative approach, employing motivational skills during conversations.
  • Work at pace to meet strict timeframes while managing and prioritizing caseload effectively.
  • Understand and apply local thresholds to determine appropriate services.
  • Stay informed about available resources to guide decision-making.
  • Confidently use IT systems for recording and information management.
  • Adapt to a conversational approach as we transition from online referrals to telephone-based contact.
Requirements:
  • Qualified and registered with Social Work England.
  • Recent MASH Team experience, including familiarity with IT recording systems.
  • Strong understanding of thresholds and ability to manage referrals effectively.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment while maintaining attention to detail and prioritising workloads.
  • Confidence in conducting and documenting strategy meetings.
