Learning Support Assistant - Southampton We are currently looking for a Learning Support Assistant to become part of the brilliant team in a local Southampton Catholic school. The role is term time, Monday to Friday on an ongoing basis, you must be able to commit to working for full school days from 8:30am to 3:15pm. If you are not able to commit to these days and hours please do not apply. As a Learning Support Assistant you may be required to work as a general Teaching Assistant; helping the teacher as and when needed and providing care and support for any students needing assistance!You may also be required to work 1:1 with students that have special educational needs or challenging behaviours, so if you have some background and experience in a care setting then we would also like to hear from you. Working within this particular school, you will have access to training and will be well supported by the fantastic team! Primary school environments require the Learning Support to be flexible, have the ability to adapt to each child individually and for you to be genuinely passionate and dedicated to working with children.

The ideal Learning Support Assistant should be able to:

  • Confidently establish an excellent working relationship with pupils and staff
  • Support generally in the classroom as well as 1:1
  • Encourage pupils to interact and engage in class activities
  • Work flexibly and be able to adapt
  • Work in a team as well as independently
  • Travel into Southampton
