Job Overview:
A dedicated secondary school in Central Southampton is looking for a compassionate and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from January 2025. This long-term role runs until July 2025, with the potential for a permanent position for the right candidate. You will support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), playing a pivotal role in helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with teachers to plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to the specific needs of students.
- Provide one-on-one and small group support for students with SEMH and ASD.
- Help foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.
- Assist in creating personalised learning materials and resources.
- Implement behaviour management strategies to support a calm and productive learning atmosphere.
- Track and monitor student progress, contributing to their academic, social, and emotional development.

Requirements:
- Previous experience working with students with SEMH, ASD, or in a similar SEN role is highly desirable.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Patience, resilience, and a positive approach to challenges.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
- Relevant qualifications in Education or SEN are advantageous but not essential.
