Looking to work in an exciting Procurement role for a growing international organisation?

As the Procurement Specialist, you'll be joining a busy and fast-paced environment, working in a small team based in Southampton. You'll be assisting with the coordination of procurement activities, completing requirements to buy goods and services and negotiations based on volume discounts and long-term contracts with suppliers.

In this varied role, you'll be:

  • Applying the five rights of purchasing and value for money criteria to any purchase of goods and services.
  • Evaluating the purchases of goods and services based on the total costs.
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders to review and clarify requirements to ensure that value for money outcomes is achieved through the sourcing of goods or services.
  • Creating savings and improve efficiencies through negotiations with suppliers.
  • Comparing and evaluating quotations received from potential suppliers.
  • Compiling timely and accurate invitations to tender.
  • Promoting the use of competitive pricing with suppliers through monitoring prices and obtaining quotations.
  • Comparing historical prices with newly quoted prices and take appropriate action to secure competitive pricing.
  • Monitoring lead times, deliveries of goods and services and taking actions to remedy delays and improve lead time performance.
  • Collating data required for the fulfilment of targets for the procurement and supply function and necessary to improve performance.
  • Maintain procurement files by tracking purchasing activity and measurements.
  • Liaising internally to ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices.

We're looking for proven procurement experience ideally within sectors such as oil & gas, the chemical process industry or heavy industrial plant machinery.

Ideally, you'll have the CIPS qualification, or be studying towards it or looking to start it (if you don't have it already this would be something the company would support you in getting).

Candidates will need to demonstrate experience of delivering procurement strategies and negotiations, as well as being able to challenge, collaborate and influence when necessary.

Knowledge of Maximo/Oracle or similar systems would be beneficial.
