Randstad are looking for a Surveyor to provide technical expertise and support to the Surveying function across all areas, to include the technical and operational management of all technical inspections, surveys and diagnosis of repair defects. Specifying required maintenance work on all properties.

You will be responsible for the implementation of strategies to enhance the quality and dynamism of stock data, providing increased data intelligence.

Key duties and responsibilities

  • To be the lead in all technical property related surveying duties, providing expert knowledge of all policies, legislation & regulations, e.g Planning permission, Building Regs, Asbestos regulations. Including senior level technical support to our legal department in respect of disrepair or legal claims received.
  • Assist, advice, and mentor the wider surveying team members; recommending and delivering training requirements to bridge any knowledge gaps. Liaising with surveyor’s line managers on technical development of surveyors
  • Ensure that the quality of our assets is maintained and improved in accordance with all business strategies. Investigating technical defects or cases of disrepair as required, to include inspection of the property and provide Housing Conditions reports as appropriate.
  • To provide support and lead on more complex property issues, disputes, disrepair, or complaints as required, to include producing technical reports and/ or specifications and overseeing the resulting works.
  • To assess and manage the obtaining of quotes for specialised works from both internal and external contractors.
  • To specify and provide detail on schedules of works required for technical defects, minor and major adaptions.

The ideal candidate

  • Relevant degree or similar qualification or HND / HNC level in Building Surveying or equivalent construction related qualification.
  • Proven knowledge and experience in building maintenance or building surveying
  • Demonstrable ability to diagnose a wide range of complex maintenance issues.
  • Demonstrate excellent standards of customer services and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Possess a commercially astute approach with a focus on obtaining value for money.
  • Full driving licence and access to own transport, or ability to travel in a timely and efficient manner to attend meetings in locations not easily accessed by public transport.
