Sports/PE Graduate – Aspiring Teacher
Location: Southampton, Hampshire

Are you a passionate Sports or Physical Education graduate eager to begin your career in teaching? GSL Education is currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Sports/PE Graduate to join a vibrant secondary school in Southampton. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable classroom experience while working in a supportive environment that will help you develop the skills necessary to become a qualified teacher.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the delivery of engaging Physical Education lessons to students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
  • Support students in practical and theoretical PE activities, ensuring their understanding and participation.
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with varying abilities to help them achieve their potential.
  • Assist in the preparation and organisation of sports events, activities, and extracurricular clubs.
  • Monitor and track students' progress, providing feedback and additional support when needed.
  • Collaborate with the PE department to develop and deliver innovative lesson plans and activities.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A degree in Sports Science, Physical Education, or a related subject (2:2 or above).
  • A genuine passion for Physical Education and a desire to pursue a career in teaching.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • A proactive, enthusiastic, and adaptable approach to supporting students’ learning.
  • Previous experience working with young people (e.g., coaching, tutoring, mentoring) is desirable but not essential.
  • A strong commitment to student development and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

This role provides an excellent foundation for a graduate to develop their teaching skills while contributing to the overall success of the PE department. The school offers a comprehensive induction programme, ongoing professional development, and the opportunity to gain valuable experience before progressing onto a teacher training programme (such as School Direct or PGCE).
