Your new roleSouthend City Council are looking to appoint a full-time Children's Brokerage Officer within a 12-month fixed-term contract.

As the newly appointed Brokerage Officer, you will need to contribute to achieving improved outcomes for Children in Care, by coordinating and identifying quality placements for children that are matched, cost-effective and that will meet their assessed needs. Ensuring that the child or young person is supported to achieve the highest level of independence.

You will manage a range of placement data systems and provide management information. Liaise with other agencies, external providers and colleagues in relation to the placement of Children in Care. You will also be required to respond positively and professionally to referrals from Social Workers, ensuring the quality of information enables the identification of placements that meet the child's or young person's assessed needs.

Within this position, hybrid working opportunities are available. However, you are required to be on-site at the Civic Centre a minimum of 2 days a week.

What you'll need to succeedTo be successful in this position, you are required to be educated to degree level or equivalent. You need a detailed knowledge of safeguarding, looked after children's practice issues and knowledge of appropriate legislation and regulations, concerning family and residential placements for Looked After Children.You must have the ability to write reports for a variety of audiences, and it would be beneficial to have a working knowledge of commissioning, negotiating contracts/procurement, and a knowledge of fostering regulations.
