We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school in Southend. This role offers an opportunity to support students who require tailored interventions and a nurturing approach to education.

The Role:

  • Supporting students with SEMH needs, helping them engage with learning and manage emotions effectively
  • Assisting the teacher in delivering a structured, engaging curriculum
  • Providing one-to-one and small group support
  • Implementing behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques
  • Helping to create a safe and positive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, or challenging behaviour (desirable but not essential)
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to de-escalate challenging situations effectively
  • A proactive and adaptable mindset
  • A background in youth work, sports coaching, or mentoring is advantageous
